Gut health is one of the thing which often get overlooked when people want to handle challenges like bloating, digestion issues & even inflammation. Many individuals focuses on reducing calories or trying out quick yo yo diets and don’t realize how an unhealthy gut can directly affect their body.

This is a case study of how a 42 year old female NRI client from Africa took benefit of our online gut health reversal diet plan to resolve issues with her unhealthy gut, gut inflammation, and digestive problems.

The client was a female who follows a pure vegetarian diet, and she started to face multiple health problems after her second pregnancy at age of 38. This case of unhealthy gut & gut inflammation was carefully assessed and handled by our top nutritionist for functional gut health in India, Dt. Foram Modi.

In this case study, we also discuss the concern of gut brain axis connection. Her online gut reset diet plan was started on 12th Jan 2026 and in the interim check in after 1 month, we discovered a lot of improvements in her gut health, the gut microbiome and overall digestion symptoms. We will discuss all the details about this gut brain axis case in this case study.

The case was fully handled end to end by our functional nutritionist for gut health, Dt. Foram Modi with online mode of diet consultation. Dt. Foram Modi has proficiency in Gujrati language and this helped client to communicate in her mothertongue.

About the NRI Client

The client was a 42 year old female of Indian ethnicity and currently residing in Africa. She follows a pure vegetarian diet and does not consume even eggs, chicken, or alcohol. She came in contact with our top functional gut nutritionist online Dt. Foram Modi on 10th Jan 2026.

Her weight was 52 kg. At that time, the client had many issues related to reproductive and also had a long medical history which is also the reason for her current health issues. The client had her second pregnancy at the age of 38, which she mentioned was natural, but it was unplanned.

After the delivery, she mentioned that she started to face multiple health problems. We noted, that all these problems were related to her unhealthy gut, the digestive system, and overall hormonal imbalance.

Client Basic Profile

  • Age: 42 years

  • Gender: Female

  • Ethnicity: Indian

  • Current Residence: Africa (NRI client)

  • Weight: ~52 kg

  • Client language: Gujrati

Dietary Pattern

  • Pure vegetarian diet

  • Does not consume eggs, chicken, or alcohol

Medical History of Client

After her second pregnancy, the client was also diagnosed with hernia. Because of that, there happened to be a weakness in the abdominal wall.

About 12 years ago, she had a history of hormonal injections (HCG), and at one stage, she also had given a try for commercial nutrition program Herbalife for about a month.

After that, she started experiencing repeated menstrual cycles and disturbance in her hormonal balances. On 10th of Jan 2026, when she came in contact with our dietitian for gut health in Mumbai through an online mode of consultation, she was going through the perimenopausal phase.

And during this phase, there was a higher chance that hormonal fluctuations were happening. And all this had an influence on her gut health function, metabolism and emotional well-being.

During the first consultation call with our online dietician for gut health in India, Dt. Foram Modi, she mentioned that she was having persistent digestive issues, inflammation in the gut and needs a structured and personalized diet plan to make her gut healthy again.

This was a complex case of how gut health, hormone, nervous system and lifestyle factors interact with each other and create chronic problems in the digestive system if not addressed at the root cause level. This was a pure case of Gut brain axis diet.

Since, the client was a pure vegetarian, the most probable diet plan applicable to her was Indian vegetarian gut health diet plan with online mode of consultation in Gujrati language as preferred by client.

Problems reported by client in first consultation

As a part of client journeys at our top dietitian clinic in Borivali, Mumbai, we first collect all the necessary information about you. We don’t blindly give you a ready made generic diet plan. But, the first step is to understand you. And this starts with the first call with you and our Indian online nutritionist – Dt. Foram Modi.

Below are the notes taken by Dt. Foram Modi containing the various problems reported by client. We have also mentioned our initial analysis on these symptoms of unhealthy gut and our initial cause analysis for each symptom.

  • Severe bloating throughout the day
The client experienced constant abdominal bloating from morning till night. The stomach felt distended and heavy even without eating large meals.

  • Frequent burping and gas formation
Continuous burping, gas, and flatulence were major complaints. The sensation of gas movement in the abdomen was present almost the entire day.

  • Burping triggered by abdominal pressure
Even slight touch or pressure on the stomach area would immediately trigger burping or gas release, indicating high gut sensitivity and abnormal digestive reflex.

  • Persistent feeling of heaviness in the stomach
The client reported a constant heaviness in the abdominal region which affected comfort, mobility, and daily activities.

  • Functional digestive disorder symptoms
The digestive discomfort was not primarily due to acidity or GERD. Instead, it appeared to be related to gut motility issues and gut–brain axis imbalance.

  • Hot flashes and hormonal disturbances
As the client was in the perimenopause stage, she experienced frequent hot flashes and hormonal fluctuations affecting overall wellbeing.

Initial Findings of our Gut Specialist Dt. Foram Modi

After the detailed online consultation with our dietitian for inflammation and gut health in Mumbai, Dt. Foram Modi, it was clear to us that client symptoms were not caused by simple gas or acidity.

Client strongly showed top symptoms of unhealthy gut. In addition, there were multiple underlying factors related to her lifestyle which were contributing to her issues in digestion & gut function.

We apply our signature RCC methodology to find the root cause behind the chronic bloating, burping, and issues related to unhealthy gut. Below are our observation after the first online consultation with our dietitian for gut – Dt. Foram Modi.

  • Weak digestive capacity (poor digestive fire/Agni)
The client’s digestion was not strong enough to properly break down and absorb food. This led to fermentation in the gut, causing gas formation, bloating, and heaviness.

  • Improper meal composition
Most meals were carbohydrate heavy and low in protein, which can slow digestion and increase gut fermentation, leading to excessive gas production.

  • Long gaps between meals
The client often had long intervals between meals. This irregular eating pattern can disturb digestive rhythm and worsen gut motility issues.

  • Daily consumption of tea with refined snacks
Frequent intake of tea along with refined foods contributed to gut irritation and poor digestive balance.

  • Low water intake
Inadequate hydration can slow digestive movement and worsen bloating, constipation, and gas retention.

  • Weak abdominal wall due to hernia
The post-pregnancy hernia weakened the core muscles, affecting gut support and contributing to digestive discomfort.

  • Vagus nerve hypersensitivity
The digestive symptoms appeared strongly linked to gut brain axis dysfunction, where the vagus nerve was overreactive and triggering burping responses.

  • Perimenopausal hormonal fluctuations
Estrogen and progesterone imbalance during perimenopause was influencing gut function, mood, and digestive sensitivity.

  • History of hormonal injections
Previous HCG hormonal injections may have contributed to long-term hormonal imbalances affecting metabolism and digestion.

  • Gut lining disturbance after commercial nutrition program
The short-term use of a commercial supplement-based diet had triggered menstrual irregularities, suggesting possible gut and hormonal disruption.

Gut Health Journey started with Makes You Eat by Dt. Foram Modi

This NRI diet plan started with our structured client onboarding process, where we take each client through our proven process. The process helps us understand the client health with complete details before we even start the day 1 of her personalized gut health diet plan.

As a part of our holistic gut health diet plan onboarding journey, we carefully reviewed her blood reports, medical history, current symptoms, and lifestyle patterns. We also noted various health parameters such as weight, BMI, digestion patterns, hormonal history, and gut related symptoms.

Since the client was living in Africa, we also asked about local grocery availability and food accessibility so that the diet plan remains practical and sustainable to be followed in Africa.

This is the reason why when we say our diet are fully customized. In this case of Africa client looking for balancing her gut health, if we had prescribed her a diet plan for which grocery is not available in the nearby area of her house, then it was not possible for her to practically follow the diet. The diet would have remained on the papers.

But, that’s not what we do we Makes You Eat by Dt. Foram Modi. We want to give you a success from your relationship with us. We are the dietitians in Mumbai who take responsibility for giving you results of every penny of dietitian fees that you pay. We won’t leave you after you make the payment. We will handhold you, support you and make the diet heal your health problems naturally.

And, that’s our policy. With that in mind, we first consider the grocery availability in your vicinity area and then only prescribe the dishes, balanced diets, meals to be followed.

Before the diet was officially started, we also asked the client to prepare her kitchen with the required groceries and basic ingredients. We have also shared tips on simple meal prep guidance to make the diet plan easy to follow once it is started.

We also explained the root cause of her gut health issues and various signs of her unhealthy gut that we need fix from the root level. We explained the full strategy we will take throughout this healthy gut diet plan with our Signature RCC approach

The client felt confident in the approach decided by our dietitian specialist in gut health – Dt. Foram Modi and finally gave a go ahead to begin the diet plan execution to help get back her healthy gut.

After following the 1 month of two structured diet plans of gut health under the guidance of our gut health nutritionist in India – Dt. Foram Modi, the client experienced a remarkable improvement in her digestive symptoms.

  • Better control over eating behavior
By correcting eating speed and improving meal structure, the issue of unconscious air swallowing and supragastric belching reduced significantly.

  • Improved nervous system response
Counseling and lifestyle guidance helped calm the nervous system, which reduced vagus nerve hypersensitivity and digestive triggers.

  • More stable energy and mood
Hormonal and digestive balance improved overall energy levels and emotional stability.

  • Better food tolerance
The body gradually started tolerating meals better, without triggering excessive gas or digestive distress.
